Download and install the Microsoft .Net Framework updates
Download and install the Microsoft .Net Framework updates One of the most common of the problematic Windows updates is the Microsoft .NET Framework updates (pronounced dot net). They can, and are often a bit tricky to fix but they are critical components and some programs will not run unless you have a healthy install. This is a fairly simple procedure and should do the trick.
Switch off the Automatic Updates via ‘control panel’ ‘security center’ and uninstall any entries of the .Net Framework from ‘Add and Remove Programs’ also within ‘control panel’. From the following download links of versions 1.1, 2.0 and 3.5, try the 3.5 install as it is what’s known as a ‘cumulative update’ and therefore includes the all the previous versions. This way of installing will allow you to manually download and install individual updates without using Automatic Updates.
If 3.5 doesn't work try 1.1 and 2.0.
Please note this is Microsoft Updates and therefore can be a minefield of problems. Make sure you have a backup of all your valuables just in case everything goes Pete Tong.
