Sorry to be a pain, but if you get a couple of minutes to spare, can you give me the benefit of your advice please.
Telefonica have sent me (unbelievably, free-of-charge!) a new wireless router.
It all fires up, and I've pressed the reset button, and the WLAN light is on. It works perfectly with a cable connection to my tower.
My neighbour came round with his laptop and did a search for available network connections. Several were listed, I presume relating to other neighbours, but it can't detect mine, even with the laptop in the same room.
Any ideas that you might have would be very much appreciated. Will pay you for your time when I see you.

It all depends on your router.

Some routers have the wireless feature disabled by default you'll have to enter the settings to activate it then you might have to set up the SSID so you can find it switch on the encryption so no one else can piggy back on your wireless connection.

If you read the instructions and get the IP address to access the router via you lan (cable from the pc to router) connection input your user name and password that came with documentation to gain access to the settings.
