I have ADSL router with telefonica the normal speed you pay for 3m and get 1m
However from switchone to able to use my computer takes between 8 and 12 minutes Where do you suspect the fault is...??

The advertised speed is never what you get. I am supposed to get 6Mb, with Telefonica, but only get, at most, 4.3Mb according to Speedchecker. It rather depends how many people in your area are using the web. However, I still get the same speed at 3am. TMN

I don't think this will be related to the speed of your ADSL, rather something running on your computer. The biggest culprit is Spyware or virus but you may also find you have too much stuff trying to run everytime Windows starts. Check your computer with AVG, Malwarebytes and Superantispyware and keep an eye on your System Tray (small icons bottom right corner) and see what is loading and running. Look out for AVG doing a scan everytime you start your PC + Spybot's TeaTimer and the Superantispyware shield can also slow things down. Skype and Messenger needn't start with Windows and you may find Widows updates are trying to download as well (yellow shield). Let Win updates complete and the rest can all be switched off via the respective application's control panel or through msconfig.
