Hi Aunty, I have six word documents which I keep on a password protected memory stick. I access these regularly but today it won't let me open two of them. I get the message 'Word experienced an error trying to open the file'. Any thoughts why this should happen all of a sudden. More importantly is there anything I can do? (For your info the word documents were all created at the same time and none have been amended at any time - I am using Word 2003 & XP.)

Hi Janet. It's possible that the data has been damaged on your memory stick. The most common cause fr this is if the stick is removed without using the 'safely remove hardware' option. You may be able to repair it using the Windows file check function. From My Computer, right click on the memory stick icon and choose properties. Click on the tools tab and the check now button. Tick both boxes and you may be lucky.
