My laptop seems to take ages to start up. Its a XP service pack 2.

Before when I had ME and kinda the same problem there was a list of start up items that you could check and see what was actually booting up on start up. Then you could stop all the unnecessary stuff. And also it showed dodgey things with funny exes that it was best to remove. Is there a similar list for XP?

I have Avast, Zonealarm and Superantispyware all regularly updated. Plus I do sweeps kinda regular, too.

Yes, but what things on the list are essential to making the system run and what things are non essential like media player, or outlook etc? There used to be a list of essentials - do you know it?
