Charlie via email asks:
Dear Aunty. My wife and I have a couple of Yahoo email accounts.  Recently, we received an email in one of these accounts supposedly from my brother-in-law which I inadvertently clicked on with my iPad.
Almost immediately, possibly by coincidence, mail being sent to one of our accounts was going straight into the “Archive” folder and not into the “Inbox”.  I have tried to reset this in Yahoo Mail on a computer and lots of other recommended actions to no avail.  I even tried to contact Yahoo but could not manage that.  Only one account is affected. I would be grateful if you could suggest some action I can take which could rectify this problem please.
Aunty Says:
Hello Charlie. From what you’ve told me this sounds like either a setting (filter) on the offending Yahoo account that is configured to automatically archiving all emails that come into your inbox or it is a setting in your mail app on your iPad. Maybe try temporarily switching over to POP3 rather than IMAP as IMAP likes to sync devices which can sometimes cause odd things to happen. Let me know how you get on.

Len via email asks:
Hello Aunty, I have a problem with my Samsung tablet that if I try to open emails & read some of my newspaper websites I get a message “cannot establish a secure connection”. Some websites are fine and the same broken ones seem to work on my wife’s laptop.
Aunty says:
Hello Len. This could be the time and date settings being wrong on your tablet. Some websites check for something called a “security certificate” but if the date/time on your device is too far out then your browser (Chrome or Firefox etc.) will reject the website.

Jen via email asks:
Can you advice me on good safe site for downloading movies and DVDs? I used to use a website called Limewire but it seems to have disappeared.
Aunty Says:
Hi Jen. There are loads of ‘torrent’ sites out there but they regularly get shut down for breach of copyright so you may need to do a bit of Google research. The legality of downloading films and music is extremely complicated so make sure you read up on the rules before you begin, and make sure your antivirus and antispyware programs are bang up to date because it can get a bit scary out there.

Tim from Torrevieja asks:
I own an estate agents and we have just bought 3 new laptops with Windows 10 which came with Office365 pre-installed but this is now saying it will expire in 9 days and I can’t believe the horrendous price that Microsoft are asking for Office. We only really use Excel and Word and we have tried the free OpenOffice but it doesn’t seem to have all of the same features as the old Word and Excel. Can you suggest any other systems we should try out?
Aunty Says:
Hi Tim. Maybe try Google Docs or Libre Office which are both free and work as really good substitutes for Microsoft Office. I’ve started using Google Docs and Google Photos and I cannot praise them enough.
